DAY-2

I was taking a walk throughout the neighborhood when two figures dressed in all red were walking toward me. They were a pair of handmaids coming from a day at the market. I thought to myself, what am I going to do if one of them should notice me? Quick as lightning, I pulled my jet black hair over my mysterious blue eyes and ducked into the shadows of a nearby alley. I quietly slipped out of the alley after they walked past and, wouldn't you know it, I ran right into another handmaid. I told myself that I wasn't going to get out of this one. So I did the only thing that could be done; I started a conversation. I learned that her name is OfWayne or OfWarren. I don't remember which; the names of the handmaid's all sound alike. Names always escape my memory like cats escape dogs. I had to keep a low profile since I was with a handmaid out here on the street; someone might think something else is going on than just a friendly conversation. Then again, I shouldn't have started this conversation in the first place. "The handmaids are doing a great job of helping to bring new life into the world of Gilead," I thought to myself. " I always knew the handmaids were important, but sometimes they are not treated like they are important." I should really keep this thought to myself.

  1. Hello. As a Guardian, I don't really understand why you need to hide from Handmaids, but maybe there's some rule I never heard about.
